Nominations for Course Rep Elections at De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) are now…OPEN!

Every course at De Montfort University (DMU) can have a Course Rep. These are students picked by their class mates via an online election, and are trained to help you with any academic issues you might face during your time at university.

They attend key meetings with academic staff and are responsible for letting lecturers know about the key issues students face; whether that be a deadline extension, or something more serious.

Some courses have already elected their Course Reps for next year, however there are still hundreds of vacancies to fill across others.

Mollie Footitt, now DP Education at DSU, was a Course Rep in her second year as a Psychology student at DMU. She said: “This is really a chance to represent your class mates and make sure the student voice is being heard.

“But if you don’t nominate yourself – people can’t vote for you!

“Course Reps attend meetings throughout the year and should be the first port of call for any academic issues. They act as the bridge between students and lecturers.

“I really gained confidence during my time as a Course Rep in my second year at DMU, and it’s part of the reason why I am where I am today. It is just a fantastic opportunity.”
