DSU Advice is a free, confidential and independent advice service provided by your Students’ Union. We are open 5 days a week including a late opening in term time. 

The centre is staffed by a team of permanent advisers who are professional and experienced and who are all able to help with virtually any welfare or course related query. We aim to provide everything from one-off simple advice to long-term support with on-going issues. We also provide representation for DMU students both within the University and externally.

How do I book an appointment?

We ask you to ring or come in to book a 30 minute appointment if possible so that…

  • We can ensure that we are the best service on campus to help you. 

  • Fully assess the help you need. 

  • Establish how quickly you need to be seen.

  • Provide you with some useful information before your appointment which could help to get a quicker resolution.

How is DSU Advice run?

DSU Advice has its own Code of Practice which governs all of the procedures and processes of the centre. This covers areas such as confidentiality, conflict of interest, the standard of help you can expect from us as well as your responsilbities when you use this service.

DSU is a member of AdviceUK, helping the service to run more efficiently and also holds the Advice Quality Standard.

DSU Advice has held the Advice Quality Standard award since 2008 and passed their last audit in December 2016 with no corrective action needed! You can read more about why holding this award makes DSU Advice a great advice provider here
