Advice

Free, confidential and independent.

DSU Advice is a free, confidential and independent advice service provided for De Montfort University students by De Montfort Students’ Union.

The centre is staffed by a team of permanent advisers who are professional and experienced and who are all able to help with a wide range of welfare and course related queries. In the first instance we usually provide information and direct students towards self-help resources, but in some cases further help may be needed so we may offer advice by appointment, which may involve casework that we undertake on your behalf, and in some cases representation (where we attend University meetings with you).

Opening Hours

Monday - Friday: 9.30am – 4.45pm (Reception is only open until 3:30pm during the summer vacation)

How do I book an appointment?

You can book an appointment in person, by phone, email or by submitting an online form (see yellow button below).  Appointments are 30 minutes as standard.  Telephone appointments are available on request.  Before we offer an appointment, we may need to ask for additional information so that we can

  • fully assess what help you need

  • ensure that we are the best service for your needs

  • establish whether there is any particular deadline applicable to your situation, and what this is

  • provide you with useful information which could help to get a quicker resolution

  • identify any possible conflict of interest
