As students, we often have a lot going on.  From lectures to assignments, day jobs to exams – not to mention the general pushes and pulls of day-to-day life or having a social life!

Sometimes we’re so busy spinning these dozens of plates, that we forget to make time to look after ourselves – especially at peak stress times such as exam season.

That’s why, between Monday 6 and Friday 10 March, De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) are bringing back our hugely successful #DeStressU campaign, to encourage De Montfort University (DMU) students to take a little more ‘me time’ now and then.

The campaign, headed by Keira Rounsley, VP Welfare and Community at DSU, is designed to help make us all more aware and equip us to cope with these pressures and is packed with events and activities to do just that.

Keira said: “I know, from personal experience, that this time of year can be one of the most stressful for students.

“One easy way of making peak stress times more manageable is by taking time out to look after yourself.

“I can’t wait for our #DeStressU week of healthy giveaways, events and the all-important ‘Zen Zone’, and I’m looking forward to seeing as many students there as possible.”

Stay tuned to DSU's social media channels to see what's happening throughout the week...and for a couple of surprises!

Keira and the rest of the Officer Team will be in the Kimberlin Library on selected days during the week with free fruit and water to help keep you on track while you study – and have some super-secret motivational tips too.

On Tuesday 7 March we’ll be running our ‘Zen Zone’ where you’ll be able to relax with a load of fun activities to help you escape from your stresses, including making your own stress balls and the big one…popping bubble wrap!

We’ll also be inviting all of our postgraduate friends to the Campus Centre Atrium on Thursday 9 March for a coffee morning where we want to hear more about your experiences and the pressures of being a postgraduate student.

To round off the Thursday, we’ve got our ‘Big Night In’ with a good quiz and a film, plus free popcorn and games. Because who doesn’t enjoy a night in once in a while?!

But the best bit is definitely our #DeStressU Wishing Tree. We'll be setting up an extra special tree in the Campus Centre where you can pick up a card to make a wish for something that would make your life a little less stressful...or a special treat. At the end of the week ten lucky winners will be drawn and ten wishes will be granted!

And, to celebrate the amazingly positive impact that our societies can have, for one week only all society memberhsips are completely FREE! Read more here.
