VP Welfare and Community Candidate

My name is Ilayda. I study MSc Psychological Wellbeing . I am generally an enthusiastic and bubbly person. I love psychology and I love meeting new people from different cultures. The reason why I am going for Vice President Welfare and Community role is that I want to help students in terms of health and social wellbeing. I want to increase opportunities for volunteering and shorten the time to book appointments with DMU Counselling Service. By shortening the time I want to avoid further deterioration of a Students’ mental health. It is because I want to improve students’ lives and health through various social activities. I am also an international student and I have an experience of working with international students as a secretary. My main aims are:

  • To work with DMU Counselling to reduce appointment waiting times and to support minority ethnic groups (BAME) mental health.

  • To support disabled students (e.g. awareness and support projects)

  • To have more events for international students and increase collaboration and to decrease discrimination

  • To have more awareness events about psychological issues such as anxiety and depression so as to protect students' health.
