De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) is launching a brand new channel for students to feed back on their time at De Montfort University (DMU).

Feedback Forums, new for 2017/18, give YOU the chance to debate on issues relevant to your academic experience, and will give you the chance to raise any issues that we can lobby the university with on your behalf.

The meetings are the brainchild of Mollie Footitt, DP Education at DSU.

She said: “Feedback Forums are a safe space in which all students can come in and voice their issues, concerns and praise that they want to give regarding their course and life at DMU.

“It’s really a place to discuss everything that is going on and will allow me to feed it through the relevant channels where it’s needed.”

The first Feedback Forum will take place on Tuesday 14 November between 2pm and 4pm in Queens 1.12. All you need to do is sign up here.

Feedback Forums are the brainchild of Mollie Footitt, DP Education at DSU.

The first meeting is targeted at first-year students and Course Reps and School Reps, but all DMU students are welcome to attend.

“It’s really a way of making sure voices aren’t forgotten, and so we’re showing first-year students they should feel empowered to use their voice,” Mollie continued.

“You should come along if you want to voice anything that is worrying you; or if you’re nosey and just want to come and listen!

“If you want to be involved and make change then come along to a Feedback Forum.”

Actions from the meeting will then be made by Mollie and the Student Voice team at DSU, to decide how issues will be resolved.

Mollie explained: “Everything that is disclosed will stay student safe; academic staff won’t know who has said what unless students have asked for this. I’ll then decide on the next steps.

“If something needs to be taken further then that is my role, and if it’s something that a Course or School Rep can do then I will guide them to do so.

“This should all help work towards closing that loop between lecturer and student and empowering students to be able to use their voice and have their say.”

Feedback Forums are completely FREE, but you’ll need to sign up here first.

The new meetings are open to all students at DMU, including first-year students and all Course Reps and School Reps.
