Zone Elections have officially arrived at De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU), but what are Zones and how do you become part of one?

Zones are democratic meetings that help set the direction of the students’ union. These Zones will make up the Student Council – the highest elected democratic body for the students’ union.

The new Zones will increase student voice and representation by ensuring a full student council.

Members of the Zones will hold a relevant Executive Officer to account, lead campaigns in their areas and develop policy for Student Councils.

The Zones will come together at Student Council to oversee student policy and represent the voice of students on their areas.

This is your chance to shape your students’ union!

The four zones that will make up the Student Council are…

  • The Academic Zone;
  • The Opportunities Zone;
  • The Welfare and Equality Zone;
  • and the Open Zone

Each Zone will be made up of the following…

Find out more about each individual Zone here. Please be aware, you can only be part of one Zone at a time.

Not a society committee member or a Course Rep? Don't worry, you can still join the Open Zone!

The Open Zone is open to all members of DSU and anyone can nominate themselves to be part of it.
