Exactly 50 De Montfort University (DMU) students have put themselves forward to #PowerYourUnion – but now you need to decide who you want to make up your Officer Team in 2018/19.

The manifestos of all 50 candidates who want to lead De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) over the next academic year have been released today.

Manifestos detail exactly what each candidate would do if elected by their fellow DMU students.

Before voting, it’s important you study the manifestos so that you can rank your chosen candidates in order of preference when voting opens next Monday 12 March.

So, how does the Single Transferable Vote (STV) *actually* work in practice? Here, we explain exactly how STV works in practice as part of? our Elections process.

You’ll have the opportunity to select all five full-time members of the Officer Team, as well as six part-time liberation representatives and you’ll also be able to choose who from DMU will be heading to the National Union of Students’ (NUS) National Conference as delegates next month.

And if that’s not enough, this is your chance to select your Course Rep for 2018/19 as well as the student leaders for your sports club or society.

You can read all of the manifestos – as well as find out more about the roles and the full Elections rules – on our #PowerYourUnion hub here.

Our resident community radio station DemonFM will also be hosting daily Question Time events with the candidates for all five full-time positions of our Officer Team this week.

These will take place between 11:45am and 1pm in the Campus Centre Atrium on the following days;

Come along to the Campus Centre Atrium to watch the recording (and meet the candidates afterward) or listen live on DemonFM.

Voting to #PowerYourUnion opens next Monday 12 March at 10am.
