VP Welfare and Community Candidate

Representing You

It may be part of the job description, but not every student feels like their voice is heard or doesn’t feel like they’re being supported. If elected, I will

  • set-up a feedback and support service for students to get their voice heard, allowing me to act upon problems students are facing the most.
  • enable sign-posting through the system, for students who don’t quite know how to get the support they need.
  • the system will have the option to be anonymous, to ensure that even students who don’t feel comfortable giving feedback can have their voice heard.

Stress Relief / Safe Space

Following on from the work I’ve done setting up a safe space for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer+ (LGBTQ+)+students, I want to set up a similar space for all students.

Exams and coursework are stressful times and many students often can’t quite cope with the workload, trust me, we’ve all been there! If elected, I will:

  • set up a ‘Stress Relief Station’ that’s available 24/7 for students who need that little bit of stress relief and personal ‘chillout’.
  • Students will have access to Adult Colouring Books, Beanbags, Comfy Chairs, Chargers, Pillows and maybe even once in a while… Puppies (and other fluffy animals, of course).
  • This service will be available year round for those that simply need to de-stress.

Cultural and Welfare Events

I want students to feel represented but I also want students to be proud of their background. That’s why I want to hold lots more events, representing students from all walks of life, building upon the great work that Jess (VPWC 17) has done with events like Black History Month. Working in conjunction with DMU Cultural Exchanges and DMU Local.
