DP Education Candidate

I have grown into life at University but admit to finding things tough at times. I have had to persevere and build my resilience and as a result I’m ideally placed to help others settle and thrive into their new surroundings. My outgoing personality and positive outlook on life helps me tackle any obstacle head on. I recognise the importance of working together and always try to bring out the best in others. I find if you can make things fun and engaging you can generally achieve whatever you set your mind to.

Personal Tutoring:

  • Ensuring that every student gets a 20 minutes slot with their Personal Tutor.
  • When receiving grades back ensure students receive 1 to 1 feedback.

The reason I wantstudents to get 1 to 1 feedback after receiving their grades is because I believe it helps students understand how they did and it helps you to understand what you can do to progress. The learning dialogue that can take place at this point is perhaps the most valuable feedback.

Course Rep Support:

  • Empower students to have the confidence to become a Course Representative.
  • Ensure that student voice is heard through the Course Rep system.

I believe that by working alongside the Course Representatives and the DSU I can make students’ learning and experiences better. Becoming a Course Representative for Fashion Design I have been able to see first-hand how DMU has given students a voice to find out what it is that students need to progress further.

I intend on looking into extra course costs to see if there is anything that DMU can do to bring the costing down. I understand that DMU have helped with core material costs for Arts, Design and Humanities. I want to investigate this further.
