Your De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) Diabled Students' Officer this year is Louise Cunliffe.
Louise is a mature third year Psychology student and parent of 4 children, two of whom have disabilities.
Louise believes there should be equal access for all students to all aspects of university life, after all, we are all here for the same reason… to get a degree!
Louise’s campaigns this year are a continuation from her last year in office. In April 2016, Louise had a policy passed at student council which will ensure that all sports teams and societies receive disability awareness training. This has been implemented into the compulsory training offered from September 2016 onwards. To further improve disability awareness on campus, Louise is also running a Disability Awareness campaign. Through this students can find out more about disabilities, experience what it is like to have a disability and promote equality and diversity which is integral to the student community here at DMU.
In Louise's manifesto she promised to work on these key areas:
- Improving e-induction to be inclusive of disability assessment processes
- Improving pastoral care on campus
