Welcome to DMU Hockey Club!

At DMU Hockey you make long-lasting friendships and memories that will turn these years into the best of your life!

DMU Hockey Club is proud to be the biggest mixed sports club open to players of all abilities with two BUCS (British Universities and Colleges Sport) teams: A Men's team and a Women's team. We cater for all abilities from county and international representatives to someone who wants to develop their enthusiasm and passion into talent!

We are Mixed Hockey Varsity Champions (7 years consecutively), and 2017 Men's Varsity winners and 2022 Women's Varsity Winners. We are certainly a team to be reckoned with.

Our BUCS teams play on Wednesday afternoons at St Margret’s Pastures, just a short walk away from our campus (currently we train at Leicester Grammar School on a Monday evening whilst St Margarets undergoes repair). We offer training sessions once to twice a week with additional Strength and Conditioning sessions once a week for each team alongside our DMUsports coaches.

Official Club Partners: DMU Hockey has a fantastic partnership with former European champions, Leicester City Hockey Club. Our collaboration with our local team allows for national standard coaching, physiotherapy, mentoring, and travel across Europe. They also provide students with the opportunity to attend training and play matches with the club free of charge! 

Socials: DMU Hockey Society is renowned for having great socials which we run every Wednesday and often have one of the biggest turnouts in the Student Union! With entertaining themes, traditional events and hard work from our Social Secretaries, socials are a great way to get to know everyone and make for a fantastic year.

Events: In 2015, DMU Hockey became an official charitable partner with the British Heart Foundation in which we hold fundraisers, donation events and awareness of the cause. Most recently supporting Hockey For Heros, a charity close to us as a hockey family! We also participate in events with the De Montfort Student Union and are often seen cheering on sports teams we are proud to share a crest with. We also have team meals, pub quizzes and varying sober socials and teambuilding in order to incorporate everyone into our club!

Tour and Travel: As a society, we have the opportunity to travel nationally and internationally! We travel nationally to meet and defeat rival universities from across the UK and end the year with a tour abroad in a European country, previously we've been to Croatia, Spain and Italy. As partners with Leicester City Hockey Club, we travel across Europe to support and entertain our hockey partners. Funded by DMU Global, cheap travel to watch sports and indulge in cultural activities with LLHC is something we recommend to all our playing and non-playing members.
