DMU MUSIC SOCIETY
DMU Music Society is open to musicians from all backgrounds, regardless of skill and experience level, who want to get on stage and perform, work with other musicians and meet people with similar interests. Whether you have played drums in numerous touring bands, performed violin in a school orchestra, or only ever sang in the shower, if you want to further explore your musical abilities then we'd be more than happy to have you.
EVERY TUESDAY, from 7-10pm, members meet at FIREBUG on Millstone Lane, LE15JN. These meetings alternate between open mic, in which members are encouraged to perform something new on stage, group work, in which members work together to produce a piece to perform at the end of the meeting, and open jams (capped at 5 minutes) where members are welcome to come on stage and play an unrehearsed piece with other musicians within the society. Don't worry if you can't make it, music society welcomes new members all year round.
AFTER FIREBUG, we attend DUFFYS on Pocklingtons Walk, LE1 6BU. Here, we hold our weekly socials. These are a range of games and icebreakers to help form bonds in the society and have fun!
EVERY MONTH we hold a showcase at different grassroot venues across Leicester, in which members perform up to 5 songs. Each showcase is themed, and all acts must perform at least one piece that relates to the theme. These evenings are open to the public, so bring friends, family, and fans along to watch.
Each prospective member gets 2 sessions free before a membership is required. Once a membership is purchased, find our TREASURER during a meeting to get your society discount card, offering discounts at many venues across Leicester! Annual Membership: £10.00
Our annual membership fee supports the funding of our events and activities throughout the year. Membership can be bought at any point in the year, and all memberships will expire at the end of the 2025/26 academic year.
