At De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU) we support all of our student groups when speaking out and making pledges to make their community a safer and more inclusive environment.

We fully support DMU Saints with their recent released statement and resources. They are calling on other student groups to reach out to their members to find out more about how they are feeling and if there’s any room for improvement, particularly focusing on inclusion.

Mentioned in their statement, DMU Saints said "We always have and always will support the Black Lives Matter movement. However, we realised that we are only as inclusive as our athletes believe us to be. It is one thing to say we are inclusive, but to actually be inclusive is another...

The Saints would like to strongly recommend that other clubs and societies follow the same strategy for understanding more about racism that occurs within your groups."

You can read the full statement from DMU Saints here.

If your student group, Course Rep, or any other peers have gone out of their way to make you feel valued and safe we would love to hear about it. Please get in touch with us at dsucomms@dmu.ac.uk.

It is important to keep the conversation going. Black Lives Matter is an important movement that we will always support at DSU. You can read our statement and find a list of resources here.
