It’s time to welcome your newly elected Executive Officers, Joanna and Benjamin, into their positions where they’ll be representing YOU.
In February this year, our members elected Joanna Dine-Hart as your Union Development Executive where she will be managing the development of your students’ union. She will also act as the union’s spokesperson to key stakeholders such as DMU and NUS. The Union Development Executive will also be the lead representative for promoting the students’ union and raising awareness of DSU’s services within DMU.

Joanna Says “I am so excited to get started in my new role and work with the Aisha, Laura, Diya and Benjamin, mostly because I cannot wait for us to start making a difference to students. I have always been passionate about making a change and doing everything I can for DMU and now I have the platform I cannot wait to get stuck in. I'm looking forward to the challenges this year holds and gaining new skills and experiences. Bring on this amazing year! “
As your Welfare Executive, you elected Benjamin Smith. He will be responsible for the development, implementation and revision of the welfare strategy within DSU, focusing on housing, sexual health and student mental health. Benjamin will also be working closely with the university and relevant partners to ensure student safety on campus.
Benjamin says “I am very excited to start and get going in the role. I am looking forward to meeting the rest of the wonderful team here at the DSU. I am also looking forward to getting to know more of our brilliant students here and am intrigued by what the coming year will hold.”

Joanna and Benjamin will be joining the rest of your re-elected Executive Team from July 2020:
