De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU)’s resident lettings charity are laying on something a little bit extra for their tenants.

Sulets, the student housing service run jointly by DSU and the University of Leicester (UoL) Students’ Union, have rolled out Sulets Extra to enhance tenants’ time at university and meet new people.

Fern Beard, Student Experience Coordinator at Sulets, said: “Sulets Extra is our programme of events and activities for all students living with Sulets to enhance their student lifestyle, because coming to university is a big part of their lives and can, in some cases, be a scary thing to do.

“A lot of people might not know who they are living around so it is all about creating a community too.”

The new initiative makes use of Sulets' Upperton Road site's dedicated social space.

Sulets Extra ranges from weekly film nights, to monthly quizzes right up to sports tournaments and other trips.

Events will predominantly be held across Sulets’ seven sites – including the brand new social space built at Upperton Road – and on both the DMU and UoL campuses.

“It is a two-way conversation,” Fern continued. “We are putting on things that students want to do, so if you have got a great idea we want to hear from you!

“All of the events are completely free for Sulets tenants across our main sites and also private houses, because it is an Extra thing to have. Sulets are more than just student accommodation.”

You can find out the latest about Sulets Extra events by following them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and signing up to their email newsletter here.
