Stay Connected Beyond Graduation: Why Your Alumni Account and MyGateway Access Matter Now

As the Student Voice Leader for Employability, I often speak to students who only start thinking about careers when they’re about to graduate.

By that stage, it can feel quite overwhelming with applications, interviews, and job searching all at once. What I’ve seen is that students who are aware of the support available before they graduate are much more confident when they leave university.

That’s why I want to highlight something important: your Alumni Account within MyGateway site is not just for after graduation, it is something you should be aware of now.

What happens after you graduate?

Once you graduate, you don’t lose access to support from DMU.

Through your Alumni Account, you stay connected to the university, and your access to MyGateway continues. This means you can still:

• Apply for graduate roles and opportunities

• Access careers support and guidance

• Attend events and workshops

• Stay connected with a wider professional network

A lot of graduates don’t realise this and end up missing out on support that’s already available to them.

Why should you care about this now?
