In an exciting development for students at DMU, the upcoming student council is offering a unique opportunity for individuals looking to enhance their leadership skills and contribute to the university community. Whether you're passionate about governance, accountability, or community involvement, there's a role for you!
The first student council will have three crucial positions open for applications:
1. Chair and Deputy Chair: Are you a natural leader? The Chair and Deputy Chair will play pivotal roles in maintaining the organization and governance of meetings. Responsibilities include approving the agenda and participating in crucial voting sessions at the student council.
2. Scrutiny Panel: A golden opportunity for six proactive students! The Scrutiny Panel is tasked with holding executive and liberation officers accountable. This role emphasizes transparency and ensures that student representatives are fulfilling their duties. We're looking for two students for each position on the panel.
Additionally, there are opportunities to become a:
- Course Representative
- Sports Club Committee Member
- Society Club Committee Member
For those interested in any of these roles, preparation is key. If you believe you have what it takes to be a Chair, Deputy Chair, or part of the Scrutiny Panel, register your interest by emailing voice@dmu.ac.uk. In your email, provide a compelling reason for wanting the role and specify the position you're interested in.
Please be aware that candidates will be required to present their reasons at the first student council meeting. Voting will take place through a show of hands from the council's voting members.
