5 My Uni Pal volunteers on a graphic saying 'become a volunteer today'

Volunteering is a brilliant way to enhance your employability skills, connect with the local community, and form new friendships. At De Montfort Students’ Union, we offer a wide range of opportunities for you to get involved in including the MyUniPal scheme which we are currently recruiting for!

MyUniPal Representatives help support and welcome new students by passing on their wisdom during key times at university such as Freshers and International Welcome Week.

Our Representatives help to organize peer support activities and will help with mentoring current and new students at De Montfort University (DMU) as well as being heavily involved with events and activities.

You can apply now to become a MyUniPal but be quick, applications close on Tuesday 31 August 2021! Click here to apply.

Two MyUniPal volunteers for De Montfort Students' Union (DSU) greeting students' during Freshers' 2019 in the Campus Centre Building at De Montfort University (DMU) Leicester.

Previous MyUniPals say:

“Apart from the obvious benefits like meeting new people and helping others, [Being a MyUniPal] it also helps to keep you occupied and makes you appreciate your life experiences.” - Ebitimi

“Volunteering is rewarding as you become part of groups as well as make new friends and future links, but it also helps your confidence.” - Julie

What we’re looking for:

  • Registered DMU students who have been here for at least one year;

  • Students who are prepared to attend and support MyUniPal activities and events;

  • And students who will attend training sessions to help develop as a MyUniPal Rep.

This is a great chance for students to get involved with the celebrations, gain confidence, work in events, enhance employability and join in with a variety of activities. You will also be able to log all the volunteering hours put in to appear on your HEAR report when you graduate.
