Following the latest announcement by De Montfort University (DMU) regarding the managing the university's budget, the De Montfort University Students’ Union (DSU) Executive Officers have been in talks with the University to understand the full picture of what is happening and any potential impact on students.
First and foremost, we are aware that this is a difficult time for staff impacted, and as the students’ union, we’re keen to work with DMU’s staff unions to ensure we properly understand the impact on staff and, where possible, lend our support.
The student experience at DMU is something that DSU want to be proud of whilst still striving to improve, and in talking to the University’s senior management, they have reassured us that this will be at the forefront of all decisions that are taken.
We will continue to work closely with DMU to ensure that the student experience is central to the decision-making process and that there is minimal disruption to students during this time.
Students, as DSU members, will always be at the heart of what we do. We will campaign vigorously to ensure that your experience at DMU, quality of teaching, and facilities are, as always, as good as they possibly can be.
We exist to represent your academic interests and that remains our focus.
There will be some changes and impacts across a variety of courses and faculties and we understand that students will have concerns, whether directly impacted or otherwise, and we would encourage you to reach out to relevant support to discuss these further.
