Your voice is working, and the numbers prove it!
Each year, undergraduate students in their final year are asked to rate their university experience through the National Student Survey (NSS). This is an independent survey that gives students the hance to say exactly what is and isn’t working.
One of the questions specifically asks, "How well does the students' union represent students' academic interests?".
This year, 81.5% of DMU students who responded said we do this well. That's up from 76.8% last year, and this is a continued trend of improvement we’ve seen over the last several years.
Academic interests mean different things to different students, such as; timetabling, assessment feedback, course content, support services, how complaints are handled, academic society events or even providing space to study. The fact that this score has improved year on year tells us that more students feel heard across all of these things.
This score reflects every Course Rep who showed up to a meeting and fed back what their peers were saying, every Student Voice Leader who challenged a decision or pushed for change, every Society Committee Member who ran activities for their course, and every student who filled in a survey, attended a consultation, or told us honestly what they thought.
As we head into a new academic year with fresh ideas and renewed energy, this result gives us real confidence that what we're doing matters, and real motivation to keep pushing.
