#FreshFest17 is set to be the biggest and best Freshers Week yet from De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU).

But it’s not just about introducing you to De Montfort University (DMU). We’ve organised a whole host of fantastic opportunities for you to explore your new city, or even a little further afield!

Harry Potter Warner Brothers Studio Tour (including coach)

Tuesday 26 September 2017 (9am to 7pm)

Experience the filmmaking magic behind one of Britain’s biggest film franchises, Harry Potter!

This award-winning tour takes you behind the scenes, offering you the chance to step onto the iconic sets (including the new for 2017 Forbidden Forest), discover the wonders of the props and costumes and so much more! (Not to mention that all-important souvenir photo in the Great Hall).

So, join us on a magical journey, meeting at 9am at the Campus Centre reception and leaving the studios at 4:15pm to return back to campus in plenty of time for some more #FreshFest17 night events.

All travel expenses and entry to the tour is included for just £48 per student.

Twycross Zoo (including coach)

Tuesday 26 September 2017 (9:40am to 4pm)

Take a walk on the wild side and join us for an exciting day at Twycross Zoo.

Renowned as a World Primate Centre, Twycross is home to a wide variety of monkeys and apes including the UK’s only group of bonobos. With the addition of other species such as Asian elephants, snow leopards, penguins, meerkats and the world’s rarest big cat, the Amur leopard, there’s be plenty to see!

We’ll meet at the Campus Centre reception at 9:40am and leave the zoo at 3pm to return back to campus (again, giving you plenty of time for some more #FreshFest17 night events).

All travel expenses and entry to the tour is included for just £18 per student.

Leicester Tigers Tour and a Ticket

Tuesday 26 September (9:30am to 1pm)

Join us for a tour of the historic Welford Road Stadium, home to one of the most successful rugby teams in Europe; Leicester Tigers.

But the best bit? Your £10 ticket not only includes the tour, but also entry to a Grade A Match in December (with exact dates and fixture to follow soon)! All ticket holders will also be entered into a prize draw to take part in the Big Boot at half time.

Escape Asylum

Tuesday 26 September 2017 (12pm to 2pm)

Fancy a scare?

Using your wit (and bravery) you and your group will be challenged to escape from either The Cabin, The Asylum or The Hostage. Each room varies with difficulty and scare rating so choose wisely…you’re only given 60 minutes to figure out how escape, can you do it?

Travel isn’t included with this one, as the Escape Asylum is only a short walk into the town centre (but we’ll still meet at the Campus Centre!).

Alton Towers (including coach)

Tuesday 26 September 2017 (8:20am to 4:20pm)

This one is a thrilling day out at the UK’s leading theme park!

With over 50 rides and attractions, you’ll be spoiled for choice between varieties of world-first rollercoasters that are exclusive only to the UK. Enjoy vertical drops, high speeds, loops and loops, fully integrated virtual reality rollercoaster rides and plenty more at Alton Towers.

Ticket prices include entry and return travel.

All travel expenses and entry to the park is included for just £45 per student.

King Richard III Centre

Tuesday 26 September 2017 (11:40am to 3pm)

Err…did we mention that we found an actual King buried in a car park? Discover the intriguing history of your new home by taking a short walk into town and visiting the King Richard III Centre!

This old school building tells the story of the remarkable search for the last Plantagenet King.

Meet one of our Freshers Reps at the Campus Centre and we’ll head out on the five-minute walk to the centre (right next to the Cathedral) together.

Your £8 ticket includes entry and a self-guided tour, so get yours now here!

#FreshFest17 will officially start on Friday 22 September and run all the way to Sunday 1 October.
