Natalie is one of over 50 volunteers, who are a part of MyUniPal. As a MyUniPal mentor Natalie supports individual students who signed up to the scheme to het help and support with settling into University Life. Natalie works with those students to ensure their time at DMU is a success and enjoyable...
Why did you get involved in Volunteering at DSU?
I got involved with MyUniPal as I wanted to be able to support other students that had just started university. I remember how daunting and scary coming to university can be and I wanted to be able to support and provide help for other students that may feel the way I felt in first year.
What is the best experience you have had whilst volunteering?
The best thing about being a mentor is the fact that you get to meet new people and form great relationships with them, knowing you are helping them at the same time.
What would you say to anyone thinking about volunteering?
I recommend getting involved because it is a great opportunity to harness your interpersonal and mentoring skills that will always come in handy during life and more than anything, it is good fun!
