WHO AM I?

I am Hemamali Tibbotumunuwa, currently reading for my Master of Science in Health Psychology. Currently, I am a member of the student action committee. I am an international student with the academic background of Pharmacy and counselling.

WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR?

I am standing to be elected as the Faculty Lead Representative of the Health and Life Sciences Faculty (HLS) for 2024/25. In my capacity as the faculty lead representative for HLS, I would be responsible to improve the student experience both within and outside of the classroom. I am elected to collaborate with Course Representatives in order to hear student opinions within their faculty/program and provide feedback and ideas for university committees, meetings, and campaigns.

WHY ME?

As an international student, I have the ability to represent and work with students from very different backgrounds and academic disciplines as the Health and Life Sciences is very broad. Having served over eighteen years in the corporate world and gaining a variety of experiences in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and education sectors, I am able to position myself to effectively comprehend the challenges faced by students enrolled in a variety of programmes at the Health and Life Science faculty. I have the ability to multitask and perform well under time constraints. I'm a forward-thinking, driven person. My strongest suit is empathy. I have the ability to assess a situation and determine the necessary actions to solve a case. I am full of confidence and flexibility that I could work with students and staff for mutual goals of student success and satisfaction

WHAT ARE MY MAIN AIMS?

Intense nature of Health and Life Sciences subject create many challenges to both undergraduate and postgraduate students:  mental health stressors, lack of social support, academic stressors, and financial pressures. My aim would be to explore and implement strategies for improving the mental wellbeing of HLS students which then would enable students to achieve their individual goals satisfactorily. Students' general quality of life, personal growth, and academic achievement all depend on maintaining good mental health.

This is a possibility with a hard work, determination, belief and a realistic approach. I strongly belief that I have all of these qualities and that I would be the ideal candidate for this position. Vote for me, and let me be support you, let me be your voice, let me lead you towards your success.

Embrace your journey, prioritize your mental well-being!
