Hello :) This is Mahek, a third-year business management student. I as a candidate for the Union Development Executive Officer, stand before you to share and co-create a vision fuelled by passion, commitment, determination and deep understanding of the challenges we as students go through. I through this position want to give voice to your words, advocate for the change we wish to see and drive through development. I believe the best approach to change is increased engagement and involvement of students within the union, which I aim to foster by listening, representing and acting upon your concerns, ideas, aspirations and initiatives.

I stand to address issues crucial to students like- the increasing cost of living, lack of opportunities to socialize and create meaningful friendships, issues with emotional intelligence, lack of opportunities to develop and deploy transferable skills, lack of awareness and time management tools and assistance through campaigns and initiatives like financial literacy and personal finance workshops, second-hand goods market with added barter features, cycling initiatives, emotional intelligence programs, Life skills boot camp to acquire and deploy real-life skills, scheduling events by taking time-tables into consideration, curating peer-to-peer support networks and culture crew to involve students better. University is much more than just academics, as a candidate I aim to shape the student experience. 

My experience as a member of the Student Council, scrutiny panel, course representative, and National Union of Students delegate has made me aware of the challenges faced by us students and the insights and skills needed to be an effective advocate for our change. With my assertive, confident, and trustworthy work pattern I strive for betterment. Together, let's inspire change, elevate our voices, and build a stronger, more inclusive community of the students by the students for the students.
