Hello everyone!
Im Samuel Doolan, a third year Software Engineering student. I also run as committee for the DMU Rock and Metal Society, something I've done for the whole three years of my university experience. I love what societies and sports clubs bring to the university, as they are great for socialising, making friends and bettering yourself. This is why I'd love the opportunity to run as your new Opportunities and Engagement Executive for 2024/2025. I want to give every student the same and better opportunities I've had since being at universit, and with this position I can do that and better!
As my first task if successful, I'd like to host a socialising event for all society committee members to meet each other, and to meet the Student Union team.This would be a great opportunity as many societies have new committees every year. It would be great for the university and the Student Union to outline the events, help and opportunities they can offer students and more importantly committee members, as these can often be overlooked.
In my position I'd love to bring more ideas like this, and better the already great service the Student Union offers.Thank you for reading this!
