Wallace Igmala Stephen

Hello everyone, I am Wallace Stephen, and I am proud to represent the diverse voices of our Black, Asian, and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community here at De Montfort University. Coming from Nigeria, a country rich in diversity with over 500 languages spoken, I understand first-hand the importance of representation and inclusivity. Having travelled across Africa and Asia, I have experienced and learned from the beautiful array of cultures and traditions that make our world so vibrant. As your potential BAME Part-Time Officer, I aspire to be the bridge that unites us, ensuring that every voice is heard, and every tradition respected.

In the new academic year, I am committed to working tirelessly to represent the interests of our BAME students. Through tailored campaigns and events such as "Black History Month," I aim to celebrate our rich cultural heritage and raise awareness about the issues that matter most to us. By attending meetings and committees, I will be a dedicated advocate, ensuring that our concerns are heard and acted upon. With just 2 hours a week, I am ready to devote myself to this important role for the next 12 months, making a lasting impact on our community.

Together, let us build a university environment where diversity is not just acknowledged, but celebrated. I firmly believe that by coming together, embracing our differences, and respecting each other's backgrounds, we can create a more inclusive and welcoming campus for all. As your BAME Part-Time Officer, I pledge to be a champion for unity, understanding, and progress. Let us stand together, united in our diversity, and make De Montfort University a place where everyone feels valued and included. Thank you for your trust and support.
