Hi Everyone!
I’m Shenula Fernando, currently in the first year of our course. I’d love to take up the role of being one of our course’s representatives for our upcoming second year. I thoroughly enjoyed the process of being a course rep this year and working alongside my fellow course reps and tutors in building a better learning experience. I can assure you we heard your views and opinions and discussed for issues and suggestions. As a result of this, alterations/additions were made in how our course was delivered and we also gained more insight into how we are to receive it in the most effective way.
As a course representative, I realized the importance of our role as communicators between students and tutors and the potential it has for positive changes in our student experience. I believe that I have good analytical and problem-solving skills and am driven towards arriving at solutions. This is a key skill that I have honed in my previous year as our course’s representative and as an Engagement Associate of the ADH Faculty, where I gain more knowledge about student engagement in our faculty and university. I contribute the information gained from both my roles interchangeably, which is very beneficial in our decision-making process. I’m also a good communicator and an active listener, who is always willing to speak with you regarding any issues or suggestions related to the course or university life in general or even just for a friendly chat!
