Hello! I am Cristina Goncalves, an international student from Venezuela. I believe all students should have a voice, so this year, I decided to nominate myself for course rep to ensure students have the support they need. Together we can make a difference!
I am currently involved in the Demon Media society - more specifically, I write for the Demon magazine out every month - and DMU Global, where I volunteer weekly, learnt a new language (French) and accomplished the intercultural awareness certificate.
What would I like to improve?
- I would like to increase student feedback, through face-to-face contact and drop-in sessions.. By doing so, the university will be able to improve their services and give more support to students.
- I would improve the representation and support for all students, international, home, postgraduate and LGBT - as I am aware of the difficulties we can go through in the process of adaptation to a new environment.
- I would also work closely with other course reps. So we all can focus on the goal of improving all student's university experience.
Finally, as a course rep for Journalism and International Relations, I would be the link between students and university, providing information from and to students. Improving the university experience, giving a voice to everyone and provide support to whoever needs it would be my main focus!
Cristina Goncalves - Nominee for International Relations and Journalism - 2nd year.
