Hello, myself Parimala Ramu. I am an International student studying Masters in International business and entrepreneurship and I am campaigning for the role of Disabled Students’ Representative. As an individual with personal experience I know what it is like to live with a disability and understand how challenging it can be.

So why should you vote me as your Disabled Students’ representative?

Equality, Fairness and Empowerment are central to which all my actions strive towards!

Should you elect me as your Disabled Students’ Representative, I will endeavour to:

  • Work with university to make funding and support available to International students’ same way it is available to Home students as well support students to access vital services available in DSU.
  • Work with DSU to provide students with Accessibility Requirement and struggling financially to rent / book their required Assistance Equipment’s like wheelchair, audio Recorder for visually impared and Hearing Aids similar to A/V Loans.
  • Work towards eliminating the stigma surrounding physical and mental disabilities through raising awareness and promoting acceptance.
  • Work together with Disabilities Society as a platform to enrich students’ skills and experiences in DMU
  • To work with DMU Wellbeing team counselling service for all individuals with learning difficulties and disabilities.
  • Ensuring safety of students across campus focusing on students with accessibility support at times of emergencies by working with Welfare officer and University Security to improve security measures in BEDE park.
  • Run a termly focus group enabling students with any disability to voice their concerns/put forward their ideas.
  • Campaign for supporting students with disability who wants to perform Sports activities and increase awareness of Para/Disability sports
  • Ensuring to the Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA).
  • Work with Unitemps to create more job roles which are made available to suit needs of students with all kinds of disability.
