Hi!
My name is Hannah Willoughby, I’m a final year Criminology with Psychology student and I would love to be your Academic Executive.
I have spent the past 2 years talking to students about what they want from their university experience through being a Course Representative, Criminology Society Education Officer and Ambassador Society Chairwoman. I was elected into the Academic Zone this year.
I am passionate about giving every student an amazing experience with easily accessible representation.
All of my initiatives (#TheHanPlan) are student-centred, and I will:
Strive for Student Equality/Improve Student Support
- Make a requirement for feedback to be given within 20 working days, with formal repercussions if not.
- Create a Submission Policy to give at least 48 hours between each deadline.
- Work to release exam timetables earlier to allow for planning.
- Improve wellbeing and mental health services - 3 months wait is unacceptable.
- Create a ‘Books4Bucks’ shop where you can sell your old books and buy second-hand.
Promote Student Voice
- Make sure students are always involved in Faculty decisions.
- Guarantee the voices of all students, including Postgraduate, Part-Time, Distance Learners and Liberation groups, are represented and heard.
Advance Student Technology
- Offer a ‘What’s in my classroom?’ feature online to include information on equipment installed (e.g. plug sockets, disabled access).
- Lobby for ALL courses to offer DMUReplay.
- Introduce a similar system to NYU where pronouns and recorded name pronunciation is in online systems.
Boost Student Employability
- ‘No fear about careers’! Offer TED talks and employability workshops.
- Offer classes in skills such as Sign Language, Mindfulness, Braille Reading and many more.
Support #TheHanPlan and make a real difference.
