Creativity, it flows through the heart of this university, and it entwines all courses together as a single unit, as all courses stem from creativity. My name is Phillieppé-Jean-Pierre and I’m a Fashion Design student. I am running for Course Rep as I am a determined individual and want to give the best university experience to all. I have great leadership skills as I am even a Store Rep at my current job. This involves highlighting any issues, worries or concerns from my colleagues, keeping confidentiality and making change as result of these situations. I also take part in the buddy role in my job which means I train all new coming staff to work effectively.

I am keen in listening to other people’s opinions and that everyone can have a say because not every problem has one method of answer. Current fashion students are struggling with the costs of everyday purchases and I believe it is fair that Calico should be made free for every student. I know that there needs to be more space given to the fashion design course as there is not enough table space and equipment for all year groups to be able to work effectively. I want another room or even another hub area dedicated to fashion students. There needs to be personal work spaces so that students feel comfortable and that they belong in that space by being able to make it their own.

It is important to voice every student’s opinion and views, as being able to grow as a course and as an individual, it creates a positive attitude and willingness to learn, and even though it get’s hard, no matter how skilled or knowledgeable you may be enjoying the course and being listened to will make your work shine.
