I have previously been a course rep at my college before DMU and have previously put forward motions to improve the course.
My main aim is to help improve the course for the present students and future students wanting to study the course. Since ICT is a field that I am wildly passionate about and some aspects of the course have been questionable. So, I would like to bring this up with the programme leaders.
Some issues about our course are some modules are not being delivered well. I would talk to the program and module leaders directly and try and solve the students concerns. Some other concerns are the relevancy of some modules to the course that is being studied. I would make sure any information that hasn’t been clearly communicated to students is and that the modules are explained better.
I think it is important for students to be given a voice so they can talk about their concerns with the modules and course so that they can be communicated to the program leader so action can be taken to try and improve the course for future students and attempt to improve it during the year of study.
It is also important that students can put forward ideas that could be added to the course like more external qualifications like MTA’s and MCP’s.
