Student Groups Grant Scheme

The Adam Redfern Memorial Fund has been set up in memory of DSU former Vice President Media and Communications, DMU’s Senior Social Media Officer, Journalism alumnus and fitness enthusiast, Adam Redfern, who died suddenly of a cardiac arrest while out jogging in March 2021, aged 28.

This fund has been dedicated to giving aspiring students with a flair for media, journalism and sport the opportunity to boost their career opportunities. Part of this, is the creation of the Student Groups Grant Scheme.

Conditions of the Student Groups Grant Scheme

  • Maximum amount available per application is £500
  • No more than one application per project
  • Where considered appropriate, the Memorial Fund Committee reserves the right to offer a sum less than that requested.
  • Groups may submit more than one application, where they have separate initiatives that require funding.

Timescale

  • Applications to be submitted by 14th February 2022
  • Decisions to be made by the Memorial Fund committee during February, with successful applicants to receive funding by 14th March 2022
  • Funds to be released via the applicant group’s account with the Students Union. Evidence of expenditure subsequently required for amounts over £200.
