"With 4 years as a DMU student, involved in various societies, acting as a student ambassador and participating in a wide variety of events, I have had the opportunities to share my voice as a student leader, and now it's time for me to help you project yours.”

Aliya Khan

Mermaids are a trans+ charity that are going through a rough patch with a transphobic hate group, the LGB Alliance, and they are trying to take away Mermaids right to be a charity because it is "abusive" to young people. However Mermaids is an amazing charity that helps young people get the things they need to thrive while being trans. I would like to do an even in which we raise money for them and publicly show the university stands with its trans+ students and with trans+ people all over the UK.
