We want to bring together the rapidly growing community of sneakerheads in Leicester. The sneaker industry has been dramatically growing for the past 40 years and has formed its own thriving subculture.
Leicester has a long history of footwear design and manufacture, with DMU being home to one of only two footwear design courses in the country. Three of us are currently studying on this course, and although this naturally makes us big geeks, it’s clear to see that sneakerheads are everywhere and remains an untapped group perfect for creating a tight-knit society.
Collectively we want to influence and educate the community on the design and manufacturing behind the shoes that have brought us all together using the skills and knowledge we have gained and continue to add to as we complete our course. We have offered guidance and knowledge during DMU open days to champion our course and industry and we are keen to bring likeminded people together to share opinions, discuss the future of footwear, and enjoy the company of those with the same interests.
