De Montfort University Dance Society is one of the biggest societies on campus, celebrating many forms of dance. We offer a range of classes, some aimed at beginners as well as catering for the more advanced, experienced performer. There are many performance opportunities, including: matriculation ceremonies, open days, DSU election rallies and competitions throughout the year. We aim to enter university competitions across the country each year, and we are planning on hosting our very own competition for the SIXTH time this year.
Each year ends with a big showcase, where members get a chance to show off their skills, hard work and improvement to family and friends. Our teachers and committee members are not just there to help run the society - should you ever need a chat with a friendly face, feel free to contact any of us!
The society has a large presence across campus, and provides a fun and enjoyable atmosphere making it a great place to learn, develop and make new friends in your all-important first days at uni! As well as running weekly dance classes, we hold socials on Wednesday evenings to enjoy games, stories and each others company.
This year the classes we will be offering are:
- Ballet
- Tap
- Lyrical
- Contemporary
- Jazz
- Commercial
All classes are taught by fellow students who are experienced and competent teachers.
For more information look out for us at the freshers fair and at events around the University. Follow us on Facebook, Twitter and our new Instagram (@dmudancesociety). Our fun, action packed lessons are a great way to make friends with people who enjoy dance as much as you do!
We can't wait to see you there!
