Did you know we now have a full team of part-time representatives working to make sure your voice is heard at DMU and beyond? We’ve introduced you to all six of them this week and last but not least is your BME Representative!

Samuel Bestman, from Nigeria, is your BME Representative at De Montfort Students’ Union.

Samuel, 27, wanted to become your BME Representative to get more black and minority ethnic students involved in university life.

Through the position he aims to introduce meet-up events and club nights for BME students, while also highlighting race issues.

Samuel, a keen football fan and reader, wants students to not be afraid to be themselves in order to achieve their ambitions.

He said: “Be yourself, pursue and prioritise your goals and, above all, drown out the fear of intimidation and inferiority.”

You can find out more about Samuel on his page here.

And that’s it for our ‘Meet Your Part-Time Officers’ series! Remember you can read the other five instalments here. And if representing your fellow students is something that sounds up your street, then make sure you get involved with #LeadYourDSU day at #Refreshers16!
