Christmas cheer will be the order of the evening when De Montfort Students’ Union’s LGBT+ Society hosts its very first Winter Wonderland Ball next week.
The event, on Wednesday December 9 at the Rainbow and Dove pub in Charles Street, promises to be an enjoyable night of seasonal fun, with West End singer and drag queen Kara-Van Park providing the entertainment.
A festive feast will be served, including turkey, pigs in blankets and mince pies, and mulled wine and cider will be provided upon arrival to quench guests’ thirst.
Organiser and society co-chair Tim Deves said: “It’s a final get together before the end of the year. It’s a smart casual, but fun event, nice and relaxed.”
Tim, a third-year Advertising and Marketing Communications student, said that although he was not usually the biggest fan of Christmas, he was looking forward to the evening immensely, particularly as the society has opened the invite to students from the University of Leicester too.
He said: “I’m very excited. It’s the biggest event we’ve done, and we’re teaming up with the University of Leicester as well.
“We did that because we wanted to make this event as big as possible, and to create a really good relationship with their LGBT society.
“They are really nice people, and we absolutely love them, so it’s nice to get them involved.”
The event begins at 7.30pm, and tickets are priced at £5. To purchase one you can either contact Tim on 07814403120 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
