De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU)’s successful student radio station has been nominated for FOUR national awards.

Demon FM, part of the already award-winning Demon Media group, was shortlisted for four Student Radio Association (SRA) awards at a special Midlands nomination event on Wednesday evening hosted by Capital FM’s breakfast show presenters Dino and Pete.

Demon FM was nominated in four categories: Best Entertainment Programme: Dave Murphy and Ricky Lount; Best Interview: Ollie McGrath; Best Technical Achievement for helping set up a radio station at Fullhurst College, Braunstone; and Best Male Presenter: Dave Murphy.

Adam Redfern, DSU’s Vice President Media and Communications, said: “I am absolutely delighted everyone’s hard work has been recognised with these nominations.

While they may be individual awards, it shows the passion everyone at Demon Media has for radio and I could not be prouder.”

You can listen to Ollie’s interview with US Ambassador to the UK Matthew Barzun, for which he was nominated, on his Soundcloud page here.

The awards evening is being held at the O2 Arena in London’s Docklands on November 5.
