DSU will show how it enhances students’ employability at DMU’s biggest ever careers fair next week.

DSU will have a stand at the event showcasing how your students’ union can provide the skills needed to stand out in an increasingly competitive workplace.

DMU was this year named among the top 25 universities in the UK for employability partly thanks to DSU-run schemes including over 120 societies, numerous sports clubs, volunteering opportunities and the award-winning Demon Media among others.

Adam Redfern, DSU Vice President Media and Communications, said: “To many current employers, having a degree is the norm.

“You won't get a job unless you have extra skills which make you stand out from the crowd. Here at De Montfort University and through De Montfort Students’ Union, you have an abundance of opportunities to get involved in to enhance your CV and develop essential skills for life.

“As a student at DMU, I wanted to get involved in something alongside my studies as quickly as possible and Demon Media in particular, which I currently oversee in my role, is a great place to hone your skills alongside your studies and really ramp up that industry experience which gets recognised.”

Adam is also heading DSU’s year-long employability campaign called ‘Shape Your Future’, of which you can find out more information on the DSU website soon.

DMU’s career fair takes place in The Venue@DMU on Tuesday 27 and Wednesday 28 October between 11am and 3pm.
