About the Award
The Course Rep of the Term award celebrates student representatives who go above and beyond in their role. The winners have been nominated by both students and staff.
This term’s winners were selected by a panel which consisted of the following:
- Hussain - Student Voice Coordinator
- Chiara - HLS Faculty Lead Rep
- Precious - Student Voice Leader (Academic Experience)
The Winners: Jordan & Kirandeep
Kirandeep
Kirandeep has been recognised for her supportive approach towards students. They described how she “stepped up and taken on the role like a moth to flame”, she showed eager to undertake her role right from the start.
Students also voiced “Kirandeep responded to queries of the class as soon as possible and immediately wrote down actions on how to resolve the issue”. Many students commented on how Kirandeep took the time out to listen to them and ensuring they felt heard.
What Impact did Kirandeep make?
Kirandeep made a very positive impact on students, they felt “stress free”. She also helped create a welcoming environment.
Students feedback showed Kirandeep had been very valuable during a challenging situation on the Course. She took lead in supporting the students, helping them manage the situation by speaking and “been a real leader/role model”.
Jordan
Jordan has been recognised for she outstanding support towards students. They described it as being “Outstanding support and commitment”. The students commented on how Jordan dealt with issues promptly and reassured students.
Students also feedback that Jordan “delt with the issue promptly while reassuring students and providing consistent support”.
What Impact did Jordan make?
Jordan made students feel heard and understood during difficult times. She helped build strong relationships between students and lecturers which helped strengthen the relationships and address issues effectively.
Students feedback said “felt happy, heard and listened to” which made the course experience a more positive one.
Jordan and Kirandeep have made a large contribution to their course through:
- Strong communication and leadership
- Handling issues quickly and effectively
- Improving the student experience by providing solutions to issue raised
Their teamwork has resolved problems quickly and has ensured students felt supported throughout the term.
