We’ve heard you!
The way Course Reps have been elected in the past hasn’t always worked as well as it could. Some students felt disconnected, and a one size fits all approach didn’t leave room for the different needs, structures, and creativity of each programme. Plus, with varying start dates, many Reps missed out on the main October elections and key training opportunities.
So, during the 2024/25 academic year, we teamed up with DMU and Reps across the university to shake things up and create something better.
What’s New for 2025/26
🚀 A Brand New Student Voice Framework
No more one size fits all. Programmes now have the flexibility to run elections in a way that works for them, with support from the Student Voice Team to make sure things stay fair and democratic.
📚 Student Voice Learning Zone
We’ve launched a dedicated Learning Zone shell for students and staff to learn all about student voice, how elections work, and how feedback can make real change.
🗣️ Student Voice Committees (SVCs)
New this year (for some 😉) – every programme will now host a Student Voice Committee once per teaching block. Co-chaired by a staff member and your Course Reps, SVCs are open to all students and are a space to raise feedback, hear updates, and stay connected.
Whether You’re a New or Returning Rep…
We’re so excited to see this in action! These changes are about making student voice stronger, more inclusive, and more effective all within a structure that gives you room to be creative and lead.

Let’s make 2025/2026 the year for Student Voice!
