Men’s football firsts continued their march to the league title, recording a 2-0 win in Luton against University of Bedford fifths.

The club’s second-string also picked up a win, defeating Nottingham Trent fifths 3-1 at home, while the third-team met their fourth-team club mates in a grudge match at Beaumont Park, with the fourths scoring a 1-0 victory to do the season double.

Away from football, men’s tennis enjoyed home success against East Anglia seconds, winning 4-2, and it was a successful day for our badminton sides with all three teams tasting victory.

The men’s first team triumphed 6-2 at home over Oxford Brookes seconds, the second team picked up a 3-2 win on the road against Bedford seconds, and their women’s counterparts edged out Oxford Brookes firsts 5-3 at home.

Netball thirds put in a commanding performance to crush Bedford fifths 46-13 at the QEII, though their colleagues in the firsts and seconds could not replicate that on their travels, both falling to closely-fought defeats.

It also wasn’t a day to remember for women’s basketball, finding themselves on the wrong end of a 76-4 thumping away at Warwick firsts.

Sharing the spoils, women’s hockey firsts came away from their home clash with University of Northampton after a 1-1 draw.
