On Monday 1 November DSU welcomed Nyashadzashe Nguwo as your new Academic Executive for 2021 - 2022.
Voted by you during September and October, Nyasha will be representing your voice at some of the highest levels of university discussions. He will be working alongside the rest of the Executive team to ensure that student concerns are being faced and the university is challenged.
Originally nominiating himself for the position of the Opportunities and Engagement Executive in the DSU Elections 2021 Nyaha felt that he couldn't give up a chance to "gain an experience of a lifetime" by "brushing shoulders with people that I would have not as a student".
With plans to raise awareness of your students' union among the student community at De Montfort University and get out to talk to you all about your experiences to feed back to the University, we can't wait to see how much of an impact Nyasha will make.
"I am feeling quite priviledged coming up to this role...I'm an ambitious individual that desires to bring change if I get an opportunity to do so."
"I plan to engage with student regarding their experiences, their concerns and expectations. Amplify all this data to the University and hopefully see a day when all this is implemented."
"I had the warmest welcome I’ve ever had in any professional setting in my professional career. The staff are so free and friendly, willing to assist at any moment. Guided through what I’m supposed to do in the most gentle way. If I had a choice I would work here forever."
