It’s the most wonderful time of the year. No, not that one.

RAG (Raise and Give) is coming to DSU and it all starts this Saturday! Excited much? We definitely are.

We ‘kick’ off with the now (in)famous Netfest on Saturday 6 February. Our very own netball squad have organised the event that will see teams from sports, societies and – most incredibly – DSU staff to compete for the eternal glory that the Netfest title brings. All of the team slots are full, but you can still get down to the QEII Leisure Centre to support both the teams and chosen charity LOROS.

After Saturday’s netball mayhem will be a slightly smaller affair; Super Bowl 50. Our American Football team are hosting an event to watch the big game between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos at Reynard’s on Sunday 7 February with part of the ticket sales going towards The Blue Heart Foundation.

Fast forward to Wednesday 10 February and DMU Saints will be holding their annual sponsored stunt on the Campus Centre steps. We’ve no word on what it’ll be yet, but we know it’s going to be massive.

Speaking of massive...mountains. Our very own Climbing squad have challenged themselves to climb the height of Mount Everest in just one day at the QEII Leisure Centre on. Money raised will go towards a cause close to their heart – Edale Mountain Rescue.

If you’d rather put your knowledge to the test Give It A Go are holding one of their now famous pub quizzes in the Lobby on Thursday 11 February. Entry is £10 a team with the proceeds going to a nominated charity plus you could win a £50 cash prize! It’s a win-win, really...

Let the bucket...see the donation. (Sorry). On Friday 12 February we’ve got our cheerleaders, netballers and women’s footballers pitching together for DSU’s Take Me Out where you’ll have the opportunity to watch the live show for yourself with what we’re promised are a few familiar faces! Proceeds from what is going to be a cracking night will be split between LOROS, Mind and the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust.

On Saturday 20 February there's yet more sport with a basketball tournament organised by our women's teeam in the QEII 10am-2pm, so get your teams entered via the Facebook Page. All proceeds will be going to the Joe Humphries Memorial Trust.

And finally, not to be outdone, Demon Media are holding a three day event from Tuesday 23 to Thursday 25 February and have sent 20 students into space for the aptly named Demons in Space. You can find out more on our big story here.

But if all that’s not enough, don’t forget that there will be a whole host of smaller events taking place throughout the month across campus and beyond, so stay tuned to our Facebook and Twitter pages to make sure you don’t miss a thing.

We’re looking forward to see you lovely lot involved and we’re hoping to raise loads for good causes across the country! See you there.
