It's been a month since #FreshFest15 at DSU. Your official welcome to De Montfort, the Students' Union and the city of Leicester. We were determined to give you the best possible Freshers season and for it to be a highlight of your time at DMU.
Your DSU Exec team, staff members and fellow students spent months planning over 40 activities for you to get involved in across #FreshFest15. Ranging from incredible nights out including our first music festival headlined by DJ Fresh, more trips out and about than ever through our new Give it a Go program, to our biggest ever Freebie Fair and we even had the Barclays Premier League Trophy come to visit.
We welcomed DMU Freshers by posting 5000 DSU welcome packs, creating over 3000 'Welcome Home' goody bags which we delivered to halls and 72 current DMU students volunteered as Freshers Reps to make sure you all settled in.
With so much going on we even launched a brand new website to communicate more clearly with you all about what was planned, and how to get involved. On A Level results day we received a staggering 32% increase in website hits compared to last year! Overall our website traffic was 16% higher than Freshers 2014. We also loved communicating with you all through social media. Over Freshers we reached 65,568 people via Facebook (increasing our page likes by 570). 862 of you also started following us on Twitter over Freshers, you liked our Instagram posts 161 times and we even broadcast our first ever Periscope!
That's not all! There was the amazing Sports & Societies fair which you made bigger than ever, lots of sign-ups to all the amazing services we offer you and generally more engagement with you lot than ever before.
