It’s Day 7 of the #DSUFestive10 and, we don’t mean to boast, but…this year has been the best year ever for our sports teams and societies!
DMU students really are at the heart of everything we do and we want to make your time at DMU truly unforgettable!
We want to celebrate the festive season and all of the amazing things that your Students' Union has achieved this year with support from the university, and of course - all of you lovely lot! There are 10 massive things in particular that we'd like to share with you this festive season - so here is our #DSUFestive10.
It’s Day 7 of the #DSUFestive10 and, we don’t mean to boast, but…this year has been the best year ever for our sports teams and societies!
In June this year we had the most societies registered we’ve ever had – 122 to be precise – and we hope to smash that again this year. From Aspiring Medics to the Tea Break Society, from League of Legends to the Event Society, there’s something for most tastes. But the best bit is, if there’s something you don’t think has been covered – you can set your own up!

We might not have even finished the first term yet, but already our societies have done some brilliant things! The Bollywood Dance society performed in front of 37,000 people at Leicester’s Diwali celebrations, and there was a distinctly DSU flavour to half-time at Leicester Tigers when they took on Bath – the Dance Society, DMU Steppers and European champions DMU Saints wowed the near sell-out crowd and showed what DMU students are made of (despite the weather…)
Our sports teams, too, have been extra successful this year. Just last week was DSU’s most successful showing in the BUCS league so far this season, and we’ve already seen some huge performances so far!
We’ve got 40 plus sports teams, all funded by DSU, and our brilliant sports office organise all of your fixtures and transport across the country so you can focus on being the best you can be!
But it’s not just about performances on the field – our squads have been getting into the charitable spirit too, with equestrian’s naked calendar and men’s rugby’s Movember push to name just a couple of creative campaigns.

But the best sports and societies news of 2015 is even bigger than all of that…in November we opened the Watershed, a complex kindly donated to DSU by the university so that you have even more dedicated space to do your thing!
