DSU are bringing together DMU students to compete in the brand new Intra Mural Sport (IMS) initiative.

IMS has been set up to provide more sporting opportunities for students to get active and play competitively against other DMU students and kicks off on January 18 with the inaugural Inter Mural five-a-side league.

Free to enter, and open to male and female teams, the five-a-side league will take place at The Watershed just off Upperton Road and is the first in a series of different sports to cater for all tastes.

Jake Betts, Sports Development Co-ordinator at DSU, said: “Intra Mural Sport gives opportunities for DMU students to be more physically active whilst at university, whilst at the same time introducing competition amongst fellow DMU students.

“We now have a clear sporting participation pathway from Campus330 (casual, turn up and play), to Inter Mural (competition within DMU), to BUCS (competition against other universities).”

Fixtures will take place on Mondays between 8 and 10pm, and Tuesdays between 8.30 and 10pm and matches will last for around 20 minutes and will be officiated by our new Football Activators (see below).

Interested? So what do you need to do next? To enter a team, head to the Inter Mural Sport page on the here and follow the instructions to register.

You can also grab a sign up form from the sports office or email jake.betts@dmu.ac.uk for more details.

Once registered, fixtures will be emailed to the captain in advance. They will also available to see on the DSU website along with results and the league table.

VOLUNTEERING OPPORTUNITY: Football Activator x2
This role involves officiating, organising and managing the Intra Mural Football League. This is a voluntary role in which DSU will provide Football Activator kit, FA Training and opportunities to network with other Football Activators. This looks excellent on your CV and can count to volunteering hours via DSU Volunteering.  Catch your eye? Email jake.betts@dmu.ac.uk for more information!
