This Student Volunteering Week we’re telling the stories of just some of the fantastic volunteers at De Montfort Students’ Union (DSU). Here’s Joseph Glover from Demon Theatre

Why did you get involved in Volunteering at DSU?

I volunteered at DMU because I'm someone who always likes to give back to others and enjoys seeing others being happy. By volunteering as the Co-Chairperson of the Demon Theatre society has combined that passion with my love for performing. The experience has taught me so much about theatre, about life, and about myself. It's been invaluable.

What is the best experience you have had whilst volunteering?

The best moment is seeing the positive reactions you get from members each week. Working hard on a project or planning a specific thing, putting it into action, and seeing it pay off and people enjoying it is so rewarding. Then to also see a group of people come together and become the best of friends through something you made happen is a very proud moment.

What would you say to anyone thinking about volunteering?

I strongly encourage anyone who wants to push themselves, to learn something new, or to just give back to volunteer at DMU. There are so many worthwhile causes to get involved with and it's a guarantee that you will come out as a better person from doing it and you get the reward of knowing you helped make something better too.

Joseph is the co-chair of DSU's Demon Theatre society.
